Great piece, A - over here in the colonies, where life as we’ve known it is dangerously close to ending, reading Batey renders up some time off from the misery. I can almost hear the glasses tinkling and smell the club smells!! Thanks.

Thank you! We'll have to see if we can get your next visit over here to coincide with it next year. It'll change your life.

Very kind indeed, especially from someone who knows what it's like being up on those stages. Thanks so much for this, and for the follow and the likes. Oh, and for that Ankorah gig the other week. Brilliant stuff. https://ukjazznews.com/ankora-and-tomorrows-warriors-frontline-at-the-elgar-room/

An absolute pleasure, and thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to read and reply. You're on the side of the angels, that's for sure. Thank you for everything you do. And that includes this, of course: https://ukjazznews.com/kikimiki-at-the-vortex/

A brilliant review of BLJF, Angus! The Festival has rapidly grown into an essential date in the jazz calendar. It's truly wonderful to see the diverse range of music and artists gracing the various festival stages.

Thank you for all the very kind words about Tomorrow's Warriors and the musicians who make up this beautiful creative community. I just love seeing all of the various Warrior bands playing their hearts out on the TW stage, and witnessing their development year on year. It's heartwarming and life-affirming and, during such challenge times, just watching the young musicians on stage reminds us why we do what we do and why we are all so passionate about ensuring TW and others can continue nurturing these incredible, creative artists. More power to all those who, individually and collectively, help keep jazz alive and thriving!

Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to even read this, never mind leave such a generous and detailed reply, Janine. I'm humbled.

What you and the rest of the team do and have done for all these years is so important - to the point where, notwithstanding all the other excellent initiatives that also make vital contributions, I think it's fair to say that there wouldn't be a BLJF at all if TW didn't exist. It's not just the artists who you've worked with directly (though they would probably be the majority of those involved over the weekend), but the ripple effect your work has had. There's so many people and organisations and communities that have stepped into their own leadership/mentorship roles after seeing the difference you have made and doubtless being inspired to follow in your footsteps. Maybe some, maybe all of them would have done so of their own volition - but the fact is that they had you as an inspiration and a template and an example: so even if they would have done it on their own, you've helped immeasurably. Huge and continued thanks, and more power to you all.
